UPCOMING EVENT

1st National Postdoc Appreciation Week

Celebrate the National Postdoc Appreciation Week with us from 20 to 24 September. Annually since 2009, The National Postdoc Association in the USA celebrates the National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) in September. This year NPAW is on 20-24th September 2021. This year, in partnership with the NPA and NC State University, we decided to make the event international and celebrate it on the African continent with Stellenbosch as the first host. Please find the programme here.

Postdocs are a very important component of research at SU and play an important role in driving the research output and impact as part of our strategic focus as a university. As an institution, SU’s focus is to build research capacity and knowledge interchange, conduct research that can transform the political and knowledge economies on the continent, and across the globe in line with two main themes: Research for Impact, and Purposeful Partnerships and Meaningful Networks for which postdocs are a perfect and important community of researchers. This is because postdocs are the future leaders of academia, industry and government and will be playing significant roles in these spaces as knowledge generators.
